Frequently asked questions

Seventeen things
travelers ask us most.

Category 01

Group travel basics.

How large are your groups?

We cap every group at twelve adults. Small enough to fit around one table; large enough for the right group dynamics.

What's included in the trip price?

Lodging, luggage transfers, daily route navigation, on-trip leadership, group meals where noted, and pre-trip planning calls. Flights and travel insurance are separate.

How fit do I need to be?

You should be able to walk 15-20 km a day with a light daypack, comfortably. We send a training plan four months out.

Can my partner come if they don't want to walk every day?

Yes. Many of our groups include partners who walk some stages and meet us at the next town on others. We help you plan that. Additional expenses may be incurred for transport between stages.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Tell us early and we work it into lodging and meal selections. Pilgrim routes are accommodating in most cases — we know the menus.

Category 02

Bookings & payments.

How does pre-registration work?

Pre-registration is non-binding. It tells us you're seriously interested. We follow up with full details, dates, and pricing before any payment is collected. See the trips we have coming up.

When are deposits and full payments due?

A $500 deposit holds your spot. Full payment is due 90 days before departure.

What's your cancellation policy?

The $500 deposit is non-refundable. The remainder can be refunded up to 90 days prior to the start of the trip.

Do you offer trip insurance?

We strongly recommend it but don't sell it. We can point you to providers our travelers have used.

Category 03

Walking pilgrimages.

Do I carry my own pack?

Just a daypack. Luggage transfers move your main bag between lodgings each day. Luggage is limited to one piece per person, and it cannot weigh more than 30 pounds. This is not our weight limit; rather, it's based on the transfer service we use.

What kind of lodging do you book?

Hand-picked guesthouses, small hotels, and the occasional historic albergue. Private rooms with private bathrooms, except where the route truly calls for the traditional pilgrim hostel experience. Each lodging experience is unique to the trail we are walking.

How many kilometers do we walk per day?

Most stages are 15-22 km. We share the day-by-day breakdown four months ahead so you know exactly what to expect.

What if I get injured mid-trip?

We have contingency plans, local medical contacts, and the ability to transfer you ahead by taxi (at your expense) if you need to skip a stage. You're never stranded. This is precisely why we strongly recommend trip insurance.

Category 04

Planning assistance & RV.

How does planning assistance work?

You tell us the route and dates. We build the plan — stages, lodging holds, packing list, prep notes. You walk on your own and we stay reachable for questions.

Do you plan custom group trips?

Sometimes. Send us a note with what you have in mind.

When will RV caravans launch?

We're scouting routes through 2027 with first caravans tentatively in 2028. The interest list gets dates first. Send us a note with what you have in mind.

Can you plan a route you haven't walked?

Yes, on a case-by-case basis. We're transparent about whether you're getting personal experience or careful research.
